Patch 0.01
Hey Everyone!
Developing Basement Knight was great fun and having built the base game in 48 hours (26 Hours actual development time) for the Yogscast Jingle Jam 2019 was incredibly fun and incredibly nerve-racking but I did it!
With just over 5 minutes to spare at 19:55GMT on Sunday 15-12-2019; Basement Knight was submitted to the Jam - all be it a slightly broken version. nothing too major but anyone who played it will know it was a tiny bit janky in places.
AND NOW THE NEWS!
The good news is I have now patched some of the janky bits and added a way to get back to the menu and quit the game (just press escape).
This all means that the game is now smoothly playable for the most part and more enjoyable.
However.... I will be redeveloping parts of the game, if not all of the game in coming weeks or months to really make it something awesome. The jam gave me an awesome basis for something that can expand massively including but not limited to:
- Improved/polished graphics (still pixel art)
- Player upgrades & progression
- Collectables e.g. potions, weapons etc.
- Room size range and variation
- Room traversal to correspond with new layouts e.g. doors to rooms on left or right, or stairs to occasionally replace portals
- Enemy variations
- Improved Enemy Navigation
- NPC range and features
- Dungeon layout and direction
- Character customisation
- In-game currency & purchases (no micro-transactions)
- Additional room types e.g. mazes
- Local CO-OP
Hopefully this sounds promising and I hope you enjoy the game!
